Former fire box, in use for over 75 years and decommissioned in 1987, behind the clay tennis courts in Westmount Park.

These are quite common on streets leading into lanes. They might have served 2 purposes: to mark the entranceway to a lane & to protect nearby structures from carriages making wide turns.
