The brilliantly coloured tree is an Amur Maple that originates from China.
In the 1960s, City Council, stated that the park looked “ancient” and started a modernization plan. In doing so, I have always thought there was a “sale” when they bought these trees – there are (at least) 15 planted in the park.

Melville Avenue is adjacent to Westmount Park. Tonight as we walked down the street, it offered a beautiful sunset and the fall colours from a black maple.

It may be only be only six thirty in the evening, and it’s “pitch dark” – however, one can still appreciate the park’s beauty.
