Westmount Park

An early evening walk, with our dog, through Westmount Park.

Did you know that the beautiful colours in the leaves, that only appear in Autumn, are always present?  They are masked, during the summer, by the (green) chlorophyll that is reabsorbed into the trees before their leaves fall.

Westmount Park – Bracket Fungi

A beautiful, sulphur-coloured, bracket fungi (Laetiporus sulphureus) growing on an Oak in Westmount Park.  Commonly, known as the “Chicken Mushroom” in North America due to its taste. In Great Britain, reported cases of poisoning, have classified this species as inedible.

Westmount Park

The “dog days of summer” have arrived!  Another walk through the park – only one duckling was spotted this evening – the female Mallard was swimming with twelve earlier in the week – a bit of a worry!
