Chequers Court (3055 Sherbrooke St. West) erected in 1929 was designed by David R. Brown on the grounds of a former Sulpician farm. The stock market crash, that same year, prevented construction of the additional one-third of the building’s original design.
Next door is Chequers Place (2055 St. Catherine St. West) – a more modern building on the same former Sulpician farm property. Apparently, it took some time to drain the priests’ fishing stream to make space for this building.
