This is the paved area where the new “dog run” will be built in Westmount Park. The paving stones will be removed in due course.

Since moving to Westmount, we rescued a (very) large dog from the SPCA.

I don’t use dog runs (we go for very long “nature walks” instead and pay for a dog walker while at work). Nor would I approach the City, informing them we have a dog, and ask them build an area where he can exercise – I cannot get my head around that way of thinking! But I digress..

It was my understanding that this dog run would be built without “cutting down a whole bunch of trees”. I don’t understand why a dog run cannot have trees that provide shade. I took pictures of the new tree stumps (some about 40 years old) to illustrate my point.
