Westmount Park – Signs

Finally, after decades, signs are erected identifying Westmount Park. Most of the space is dedicated to what one can or cannot do on park property. A separate one, outlining the park’s history, would have been a good addition.

  1. Riding a bike in the park and feeding the squirrels – Guilty many times back in the late 40s and early 50s.  Swimming?  How could anyone even think of that in the pond?  One of the worst things we could do as kids was to push someone into the pond.  No smoking – The seniors who played checkers on the big board produces copious amounts of smoke.

    • Many by-laws passed – most unenforceable with the current Public Security staffing levels. In the past, there were full-time “park rangers”, whose sole responsibilities involved enforcing park regulations.

  2. Yes, history would be so much more interesting. Used to enjoy the park when I lived in Montreal, fifty years ago ! Time flies indeed !
